Products that I have too many of…
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
When I visited the Birchbox store last month I got to make a DIY Birchbox, which is one of the cool services they offer. The employee I was working with recommended I try the Liz Earle skincare sample. She told me that everyone who worked in the corporate office and in the store was obsessed with the brand and specifically the Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. The cleanser comes with a muslin cloth, which I have found to be a miracle worker. I’m definitely not a skincare expert, but I think the cloth it’s the perfect combination of soft and rough. I have even found myself preferring it over my Clarisonic.
I really love this product, and it smells like soothing rosemary. I’ve had a few breakouts recently (it’s a stressful time at work) and I credit this cleanser and cloth with my speedy recovery.

I’m beginning to think only good things can come from a blue box.
Here is a close-up shot of part of the muslin cloth. I think the way it’s woven is the secret to the texture. I can’t recommend this enough. I believe you can even buy the cloths separate from the cleanser. Try it, I promise you won’t regret it.
Tony Moly: K-Town Beauty
As my obsession with foreign beauty products continues, this past weekend I finally made it to Tony Moly’s K-Town location. I’ve been meaning to hit this store for some time now, but always had something holding me up. After a few weeks of planning to go, I actually went this past weekend. I wasn’t sure what to expect or what I wanted to get —knowing that they sell some of the brand’s products at Urban Outfitters, it was important to me that I purchase something unique to the store. After debating for a half an hour over a few things in the very tiny store, I decided on the following:
- Tomatox Magic Massage Pack- this is basically a brightening/clarifying mask
- Changing Magic Mask (sheet box)- this pack comes with 7 masks
Isn’t the packaging amazing? I tried the mask last night and I really liked it. Not sure about the brightening effect, since I’m starting with a very fair base (read-super pale). It did leave my skin feeling firm, and that’s reason enough to keep using this product.
Um…can we please talk about what this says? Lost in translation….?
I haven’t tried any of the sheet masks yet but it comes in the following varieties:
- Black Pearl
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Red Wine
- Tea Tree
- Green Apple
- Royal Jelly
- Brid’s Nest
Should be interesting! Do you have any favorite Tony Moly products?

Current Obsession
I got this Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm from my Birchbox and I am so obsessed with the color. It’s super pink in color and goes on like a traditional lip balm. They carry this brand at Target, but I’ve never bought anything from the line as it’s a bit more pricey than your average drugstore brand. The color I got is called Pixi Pink and I’d definitely recommend this for my fellow fair skinned ladies. The color is also long lasting —I think I only reapplied it once during the day.
Korean Beauty Brands – IOPE
Riding the insane popularity of K-pop, Korean beauty is absolutely taking over. You can’t go on any beauty websites without hearing about the newest and amazing Korean beauty products. AmorePacific, the leading Korean beauty brand, owns a bunch of other cosmetics and skin care brands popular throughout the world. I recently came across IOPE, AmorePacific calls this brand “cos-medical.”
I got the IOPE Air Cushion in N21 from someone I met who works for AmorePacific, and I am so obsessed with the product. Its a foundation but I prefer to use it as a finisher/corrector on top of my concealer. Its very layerable and can be worn alone, on top of concealer, and even finished with powder foundation for a more matte look. The product goes on wet and, in my opinion takes quite some time to dry, but if you apply a powder finish it helps speed up the dry time. The Air Cushion is like a hybrid of liquid/cream/powder foundation and its SPF 50! The buildable nature of the product is also a huge bonus, it can be as sheer or full-coverage as you want. Not to mention this color matches my skin perfectly, I can’t say enough good things. Like all other Korean beauty brands, I wish it was more readily available in the US.
The Perfect Red
We all know the adage “when you stop looking…you’ll find it.” Of course this happened to me when I was gifted my new favorite red lipstick. My mom got it as a sample from Sephora and gave it to me, as she was not about to wear the fire-engine bright color. It’s called Beso: Stila All day Liquid Lipstick.
It doesn’t look that vibrant from this photo but I assure you that it’s the brightest red I’ve ever seen. Not only is it the exact shade I was looking for, it actually stays on. It goes on as a lip creme but quickly dries to a matte velvety finish. Though I haven’t tried this, I’m sure it could be worn as a gloss-finish (for those who don’t like matte) if clear lip gloss was applied after the color dries. Currently, I only have a small sample size, but I am definitely going to purchase the full sized lip color as soon as mine runs out.
