Hi, everyone. I know it’s been a while since I last updated but I made the move to New York City to try and pursue my dream of working here full time, and possibly working in fashion. Since I’ve been here I splurged a bit on a few items and I just wanted to share:
Chanel Attraction nail polish, from the Spring 2012 runway. Apparently this is supposed to come out in May but I got it in SoHo.
Celine Fall 2012 RTW
March 4, Paris, Phoebe Philo created the most amazing coats(in addition to a very sporty line) for Celine’s Fall 2012 ready to wear collection. The bright colors paired with a black or navy base really allow each piece to stand out.
Fall Trend: Middle Ages
What if I said that I think the trends for fall will be inspired by the Renaissance and Medieval times? It’s kind of odd, but it can definitely be beautiful. I pulled together a few pieces from different collections that I believe are obviously inspired by the 15th century.
Balmain- these tunics remind me of what a jouster would wear. The embroidered roses serve as a coat of arms.
Carven- The first model wears a skirt with a Medieval painting. The second model wears a jacket that reminds me of stained glass work that would be found in a church.
Aquilano.Romondi- The show is specifically inspired by the Renaissance, notice the cross motifs and rich fabrics.
Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012
So obsessed with this huge collection, there are 73 looks and each one of them as beautiful as the next. The Dolce & Gabbana collection was clearly inspired by the Baroque, featuring rich colors, tapestry-like prints, and religious undertones. In my opinion it is on of their best efforts in a long time.
Jessica Chastain-Oscars 2012
This couldn’t even wait until tomorrow. I had to post her picture ASAP. It is that gorgeous. Academy Award nominee for The Help, Jessica Chastain rocks a stunning Alexander McQueen dress to the 2012 Oscars.
Gucci Fall 2012
A trail of Romantic vixens sauntered down the Gucci runway in Milan, February 22. Adorned in a shadowy palette including onyx, rich jade, deep burgundy, the the models evoked a sense of the nighttime. Creative director Frida Giannini channeled the nineteenth century for inspiration for this bold fall collection. The masculine elements like structure and materials combined with lighter feminine silhouettes create a depth and balance to the collection. The use of sheer fabrics, fur, feathers, and strategically placed velvet add a lushness to each outfit –laced with the sensual and seductive. The collection displayed a wicked sort of glamour where darkness is truly opulent and beautiful.
Mary Katrantzou A/W 2012
Guest blogger Josh Rutan joins Pretty Well Dressed with his thoughts on Mary Katrantzou’s A/W 2012 collection:
I’ve seen the work of Mary Katrantzou around tumblr, blogs, magazines and the like, but it has not been until her latest A/W 2012 show at London Fashion Week that I’ve become mad for stunning silhouettes and gorgeous patterns. The construction of the garments in itself is something to admire, but when combined with of Katrantzou’s lush designs, it all becomes quite inspiring. Some of the collection gives the illusion of intricate fabrication and detail with studs, spikes, weaving, ruching and pleating (as well as a clock and a few plants), but most of these have been accomplished through her use of beautiful patterns and designs. My favorite look from the collection is the floor length long sleeve dress depicting a green hedge maze (seen below), creating a stunning design in the shoulders and the sleeves and leaving me wishing she designed menswear.
Mad Men x Estée Lauder
On my beauty kick again, I found out that Estée Lauder has teamed up with hit show Mad Men to produce a make-up line. The packaging and colors of the products look like something Betty Draper would keep in her silk clutch. The collection will be available March 18 just before the season 5 premiere of Mad Men on March 25.

I’ve never considered myself to be a beauty expert but I definitely have a “beauty regiment” as far as make-up is concerned. Lately I’ve seen some great blog posts where amazing bloggers share their beauty products and routines. So I’ve been inspired and have created for you all, a post completely dedicated to my Going All Out make up look –I definitely don’t do this everyday. I think I use a pretty good combination of high-end to drugstore products, plus I also feel that your make-up collection is something that you can build over time. I want to note that all the pictures below are the exact colors of the products I use, and that my skin color is very pale (think of the lightest foundation color).
Disclaimer: I haven’t found the perfect combination of products and I’m always open to trying new things, so anything can change. And sometimes I do more, sometimes less.
