Hello lover, umm I mean Chanel nail polish. I saw this color and immediately fell in love. Being me, I’m always the last to know when it comes to the release of the new Chanel colors. Malice is the 2012 Holiday color, and it’s a stunner.
Cartier Love Bracelets
My parents recently asked me what I wanted for my birthday, since it’s only a month away. It took everything in me not to blurt out CARTIERLOVEBRACELET gasp. Yes, a Cartier Love Bracelet. Absolutely gorgeous, but sadly a bit out of a reasonable price range. I’ll have to settle for Henri Bendel instead. More reasonable, yet just as beautiful.
Get Bonded
OPI’s latest collaboration with the James Bond 007 movie Skyfall is absolutely gorgeous. The colors are rich and dark and after seeing the movie, I can tell they are an accurate representation of the film. You can buy the colors individually or there are 2 gift sets: one is a 4-pack of mini’s and the other is a 3-pack of full sized colors. I chose the 3-pack because I have the OPI Nicki Minaj minis and I found them hard to work with and one of the glitter colors dried up: not worth it. Most importantly the 3-pack comes with the color “Skyfall” which is a essentially oxblood aka hottest color of the moment. I’m currently wearing the color and love the look. I didn’t see “The Man with The Golden Gun,” which is the color with gold foil in honor of the 50th anniversary of the James Bond franchise. But I’m not sure it’s worth the $30 price tag. Regardless, if you only chose one color from the collection pick up Skyfall.

Make-Up Art Cosmetics
Back in 2009 Richard Phillips, the artist I interviewed a few weeks ago, collaborated with MAC cosmetics. This is a big deal. Especially for those of us who are simultaneously obsessed with beauty products as well as art. Lucky for me, I was able to find images from his complete collection, though it’s no longer available. I’m actually glad I was able to see it. As a great collaborator, Phillips and digital artist Pascal Dangin, retouched a painting he was going to show at the Gagosian with the colors from his MAC collection. The piece is called “Der Bodensee” and it’s a large hyper realistic painting of a woman’s face. Her face is racy, sultry and blithely unaware of her looks.

To New York City, Love Acne Paper
I was reading a Style.com interview with Thomas Persson, editor in chief of Acne Paper. This current issue is dedicated to New York and features photos and stories about the beloved city. What struck me the most in the interview was something Perrson said about those who come to New York. Here is the excerpt from the interview:
What do you think makes New York so mesmerizing?
Because it attracts a certain kind of person. People who choose to live in New York City are often full of ambition and drive. They have an enthusiasm for what they’re doing and for life. So it has this electric intensity that you don’t find in Europe. You come to New York if you really want to accomplish something. There’s a very high level of energy. Also, because it’s so compressed. It’s this little island, it’s a small place and the whole world has gathered here. I think that is really unique.
“You come to New York if you really want to accomplish something.” That’s my favorite part. Millions of people here in this city, struggling just to make it. But for most of us, that is something we chose. We’ve all come to New York for different reasons, but ultimately our shared reason is to be inspired.

Richard Phillips: The Power of an Image
I wrote this piece this past week for Hellion Magazine. I had such a great connection to the artist, Richard Phillips and his work. I think that it truly manifested itself within my work. Please check it out if you’re interested.
Satellite of Love
A month or so ago I posted about the NARS x Andy Warhol collection. On my break the other day I found myself in Sephora and forgot the collection was set to be released October 1. I was thrilled to see the collection in person. One item in particular, caught my eye because I had not seen it in the early product release images. It is a new blush that, in my opinion, would likely serve as a highlighter/illuminator. Also, it has a killer name: Satellite of Love, one of my all time favorite songs. It’s such a perfect tribute to Andy and the 1960s pop culture.
