Nylon!

Being a Gap employee I immediately recognized this skirt Evan Rachel Wood is wearing on the November cover of Nylon. I saw her skirt and thought to myself “this looks like the gorgeous deep yellow silk skirt the Gap has right now,” and much to my surprise it was exactly the one. I am not sure how they made her fit into the skirt, because lately I have found the clothing at the Gap are not running true to size. In fact, the store is giving me and I am sure many other women, some kind of confidence boost. Everything is big, so if I have trouble wearing a size 0 skirt, there is no way Evan Rachel is fitting into it either. I hate to say it, but I wonder if they had to clip it in the back; she is so tiny. But regardless, she looks amazing, her hair stands out –being such a vibrant red. Be sure to check the Gap’s winter line, it’s actually gorgeous and in my opinion Patrick Robinson is really stepping up his game. You can buy the skirt featured on the cover here.

Alexander Wang Dream Bag

I saw this bag the other day when I was at the Barney’s Co-Op. It is beautifully crafted and looks so durable (which is a great quality especially for spending around $850 for it). I am absolutely in love with this piece. It is such a great color as well, cognac is a perfect neutral for fall and spring. Every woman needs a brown bag and if I had unlimited funds this would be the one I purchase.

Lanvin for H&M

The Lanvin for H&M line was revealed yesterday, November 2, and will be hitting stores Noveber 20th. The price range for the womenswear is $19.99-$200+ which is a little more than I expected. Most of the dresses are $199 which, I hate to say it, I think are overpriced. I understand that Lanvin clothes normally run into the thousands but it made me a bit upset being on a college budget and whatnot. I certainly won’t be purchasing a dress, maybe if I am extra good and work over time this holiday, I will allow myself to purchase the ruffle skirt that is $59.99. The collection overall looks absolutely gorgeous, it’s just disheartening to see such high price points.  The draping and unique shapes are stunning and will be a great promotion for H&M. I don’t know how the company scored H&M but they did well. Check the entire collection here.

Emma vs. Brittany

For UGAstyle’s “About Me” section we chose a style icon to imitate. I previously wanted to use Emma Watson’s Teen Vogue photo shoot that I am obsessed with but unfortunately our fashion director wanted everyone to use a photo with a white background. I used the image below to re-create, and here are a few ‘behind the scenes’ shots of the photoshoot! I can’t wait to see how they turn out.

Erin Fetherston for Juicy Couture.

One of my favorite designers, Erin Fetherston is designing for Juicy Couture. Teen Vogue writes on the collaboration here. I look forward to seeing the product of this partnership. I love Erin’s designs because they are modernly elegant but her inspiration is clearly classic fashion. She is feminine and innovative with her collections and I hope the Juicy Couture line will reflect Erin’s vision while maintaining the casual luxury for which Juicy is so famously known.

Lanvin for H&M

Two looks have now leaked: I am very excited to see what else is to come from this famous combination. The line is set to be revealed on November 2, and hits select stores November 20.

RIP McQueen

Sarah Burton, the creative director of Alexander McQueen, must share a spirit with Lee himself. After looking at the entire Spring collection I am amazed at the beauty and sophistication of the pieces. I feel like McQueen would be extremely happy with the pieces. They look like they have come straight from his imagination and translated by Burton into the most decadent collection to show in Paris. It is emotional seeing this collection, as it is the first major show since McQueen’s death but it does not disappoint. Burton establishes herself with this show and has proven that she can fill the position of creative director at one of the most iconic fashion houses.

From the shape to the colors, materials and general McQueen essence, Burton flawlessly creates each piece with innovation and gleaming creativity.
