Obsessed: Lily Collins

From her style to beauty, she’s been going for an edgier and more adult look  lately. I’m so obsessed with her, even beyond the fact that I’m a huge fan of The Mortal Instruments series. Lily is so amazing and she’s on the cover of the Seventeen magazine September issue.

Hazore Vol. 1 Launch Party

Two minutes from my apartment in Bushwick is the Body Actualized Center on Troutman St. For the first time a fashion event was actually close to me! This never happens. Downside to living in Bushwick. My friend Tamara and I went to the launch party for Hazore Vol. 1, a lifestyle clothing brand created by two best friends with art and design backgrounds. The collection features printed blouses, graphic tees, and dresses and skirts. Most of the pieces feature colorful geometric patterns, one of the stand out aspects of the brand. Notable pieces include: a babydoll dress with a grey tulle skirt and screen printed basic t-shirts with various celebrity and animal faces.

The launch party was brought to you by the ladies of Danika Daly PR. We even got a few goodies: a cool screen printed tote, Jamberry nail wraps, and graphic t-shirt. I think I really lucked out with mine, don’t you think?

Bauble Bar x PopSugar Event

Thursday night I had the opportunity to attend an event for BaubleBar x Popsugar at BaubleBar’s Soho pop-up shop. I walked in and they handed me a $10 off coupon. Winner. The store was incredible and filled with people snapping photos, sipping Godiva cocktails and admiring the jewelry. I actually have done a lot of research on BaubleBar because I recently wrote a piece on the company and their dive into brick and mortar (I’ll post it once it’s up). The company and their business model is really cool. They’re a part of the new wave of technology-inspired retail experiences. But again more about that in a different post. Back to the party: I found myself overwhelmed by the amount of merchandise the store had but I’m not surprised because the shop is supposed to carry everything that’s on the website. That’s a lot of baubles. After being indecisive for 45 minutes I decided on a bracelet and earrings. I think it was a good choice. Check out the shop if you’re in NYC!

The chevron earrings in the middle were a gift with purchase. They look a bit preppy for my style so I think I’ll give them to my sister for her birthday (Ali, if you’re reading this: happy early birthday).

Modeling for Refinery 29

A little over a month ago I had the amazing opportunity to model for Refinery 29. I am a religious reader of their site and jumped at the chance to work with them. The shoot was sponsored by Cover Girl and I got to have my hair and make-up done. I’ve been waiting patiently for the picture to come out and now it’s finally here! Right now, it’s on the home page of Refinery 29! Go check it out.

Kendrick Lamar wears Christopher Kane

I went to Governor’s Ball this weekend which was absolutely amazing. One of the acts I was most excited for was Kendrick Lamar. I’m obsessed with him. He’s definitely in my top 5 favorite artists right now. I made sure I could get as close as possible to him. When he came out I immediately recognized his outfit. Christopher Kane Fall 2013 Menswear.

This is the photo I took, I got pretty close to him. Also a pretty clear shot of his outfit.

Upcoming Beaty Lines

I’m not sure what I am going to do –I’ve just read that Michael Kors is now coming out with a beauty line. Not to mention Marc Jacobs’ upcoming line hitting Sephora shelves this fall. And Lanvin x Lancome in June. My beauty bar at home is already overstocked. Despite the fact that I’m 100% sure I must own something from each collection, I am so looking forward to seeing what these designers are going to come up with. I love a good fashion/beauty crossover. It’s a great way to add an extension to a brand and increase an empire by working with an already loyal customer base.

My predictions:

Michael Kors– probably a lot of golds: tanner, bronzer, orangey-shimmery powder. Elle UK is reporting the collection will be divided into themes: sporty, sexy, and glam (that sounds like the essence of MK) and will aslo feature lip colors and after-sun creams. The collection will be available in August at Macy’s, exclusively.

Marc Jacobs– Based on the success of his perfumes, I’m sure MJ cosmetics will be a hit. We’ve already seen a glimpse of the nail polish bottles and they seem to be off to a great start packaging-wise. I hope he goes all out with a full-line of make-up: foundation, powders, palettes, blush, and of course nail polish. I’m imagining pales and darkest darks.

Lanvin x Lancome– This is more of a partnership, but it still counts in my eyes. Alber has created an amazing video for the collab so I’m hoping to see elements of his illustration in the collection. Hopefully we’ll see bright colors, pasteles and nail polish!

What other fashion houses have yet to venture into beauty? Can they successfully make the cross over? What existing houses have beauty lines, but could be doing better? Just some food for thought.

Jeremy Scott Website

GOT A MAKEOVER….and it’s pretty cool. If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know my obsession with Jeremy. His website in the past, sadly, has not quite matched up to the scale of his label. It was very basic, and dare I say Windows 95-esque (sorry Jeremy, but it’s true).  But after this overhaul, the site is now an online shoppers paradise. For those who can’t get to Opening Ceremony in New York (the only place I’ve ever seen his clothes in the USA), his website now offers a selection of items from his past few collections. What’s even cooler is that the models are like GIFs, in that they are all doing different movements. You can narrow your search by collection or male/female clothes, it’s worth a look.
