Vogue Jan 2013

Gwen Stefani looks perfect on the January 2013 cover of Vogue. She’s styled in Saint Laurent Paris, which also makes it’s Vogue cover debut. Gwen’s witchy hat, sparkly golden jacket, and bow tie blouse are truly rock chic. I love that Vogue is accepting the Saint Laurent collection. As we all know, their stamp of approval carries a heavy weight throughout the fashion community. It’s nice to see the clothes on a real person too, not just a 5’11, 100lb girl that is 1 in a billion. Gwen wears the clothes like she was born to. Nice job Vogue.

Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst ‘On the Road’ premiere

Kristen Stewart looks amazing in this Erdem dress standing next to Kirsten Dunst at the New York premiere of On The Road. The runway version is a bit longer and her stylist clearly opted for a more age appropriate length (though it is pretty short). I’m intrigued by Kristen’s recent red carpet outfit choices, she’s choosing some risqué pieces. It doesn’t seem like her. Her sheer Zuhair Murad gown at the Los Angeles Twilight premier also caused quite a stir. She doesn’t appear to be going for a sexy, it’s just different –a change from her normal converse and semi-goth look. Her overall look is really clean and chic. Light makeup, hair pulled back, minimal jewelry. It works.

Cartier Love Bracelets

My parents recently asked me what I wanted for my birthday, since it’s only a month away. It took everything in me not to blurt out CARTIERLOVEBRACELET gasp. Yes, a Cartier Love Bracelet. Absolutely gorgeous, but sadly a bit out of a reasonable price range. I’ll have to settle for Henri Bendel instead. More reasonable, yet just as beautiful.

To New York City, Love Acne Paper

I was reading a Style.com interview with Thomas Persson, editor in chief of Acne Paper. This current issue is dedicated to New York and features photos and stories about the beloved city. What struck me the most in the interview was something Perrson said about  those who come to New York. Here is the excerpt from the interview:

What do you think makes New York so mesmerizing?
Because it attracts a certain kind of person. People who choose to live in New York City are often full of ambition and drive. They have an enthusiasm for what they’re doing and for life. So it has this electric intensity that you don’t find in Europe. You come to New York if you really want to accomplish something. There’s a very high level of energy. Also, because it’s so compressed. It’s this little island, it’s a small place and the whole world has gathered here. I think that is really unique.

“You come to New York if you really want to accomplish something.” That’s my favorite part. Millions of people here in this city, struggling just to make it. But for most of us, that is something we chose. We’ve all come to New York for different reasons, but ultimately our shared reason is to be inspired.

Sheer Delight!

Our guest blogger Josh Rutan is at it again:
Maybe you are sartorial royalty trolling around fashion weeks trying to get your picture taken, or an upper east side princess dashing around town, or maybe you are the hipster queen of Bushwick. It doesn’t matter which of these you associate most with, Dries Van Noten Spring/Summer 2013 is your go-to collection from Paris this season. Noten incorporates sheer fabrics, florals, plaids, and the perfect combination of structure and flow to create a collection that is sure to be so popular, you’ll be able to buy it all at H&M next week.
Highlights of the show include this flowing but structured look, whose skirt is sheer floral layered over plaid. Brilliant.
Sweater dress with amazing details with amazing sheer arms and detailing.

Three words – sheer plaid double-breasted blazer….ok maybe that’s more than three words but it is everything.

Oversized peplums. Can Lana Del Rey PLEASE wear this??!
Black on plaid on sheer. I think you may have already figured it out, but I can’t get enough of the sheer.
