August Empties

I just had two of my absolute favorite products run out. Lush Flying Fox shower gel and First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser. You may remember my last post of Empties, where I also had the F.A.B face cleanser. I do love this product. I feel like you can’t go wrong with this brand. So naturally, I must be off to sephora tomorrow to buy another!

The Lush Flying Fox shower gel is one of my favorite scents. Seriously. I wish there were popular jasmine fragrances out there. I’d totally rock it. I’ve gone through a few bottles of this shower gel and they actually last a pretty long time. I think one of the employees told me that the gel doesn’t contain that much water so the formula is much more concentrated which is why a little will go a long way, and the product can last. I’m dying to go to Lush but for whatever reason I don’t have the same self control that I do when I go into Sephora. When I go to Lush I end up leaving with 4 or 5 things! Maybe it’s all the events that get me.

What are your favorite products you’re constantly running out of?

5 Questions with the makers of MODA, the world’s first digital make-up artist

FOREO_MODA_SideColor

What would you do if I told you that there is a product that can 3D print any make-up look of your choosing, directly on your face? Sounds a bit space-age right? I spoke to the makers of MODA, a Swedish beauty and personal care company called FOREO. You can read the full article on brandchannel.com.

MAC x Cinderella

I know I posted a few weeks ago about how much FOMO I had been having over totally neglecting to purchase the MAC x Cinderella products. Long story short: they sold out instantly and were all over Instagram taunting me.

I had a bit of a Fairy Godmother moment myself and these two beauties magically came into my possession. I have to say, I was really wanting Royal Ball (the pinker color) but I ended up liking the look of Free As A Butterfly (the nude looking color) much more. I could go on and on gushing about the gorgeous pale blue packaging, and  I am clearly not alone in my sentiment.

Both colors are sheer and very very shiny, but I feel like their pigment is understated enough to be practical/appropriate for every day wear.

Elf–Complexion Correction

I’m going to try some complexion correction with this elf palette. I have always seen these colorful concealers but have never attempted to try them. Maybe I found them a bit intimidating or convinced myself it wouldn’t work. But hey -I am going to give it a shot.

I’m particularly interested in trying the yellow for dark circles under my eyes and the green for redness. Also, can I mention that the palette was $3 and the brush was $3. I love elf.

Make-Up Art Cosmetics

Back in 2009 Richard Phillips, the artist I interviewed a few weeks ago, collaborated with MAC cosmetics. This is a big deal. Especially for those of us who are simultaneously obsessed with beauty products as well as art. Lucky for me, I was able to find images from his complete collection, though it’s no longer available. I’m actually glad I was able to see it. As a great collaborator, Phillips and digital artist Pascal Dangin, retouched a painting he was going to show at the Gagosian with the colors from his MAC collection. The piece is called “Der Bodensee” and it’s a large hyper realistic painting of a woman’s face. Her face is racy, sultry and blithely unaware of her looks.

The Beauty Post

I’ve never considered myself to be a beauty expert but I definitely have a “beauty regiment” as far as make-up is concerned. Lately I’ve seen some great blog posts where amazing bloggers share their beauty products and routines. So I’ve been inspired and have created for you all, a post completely dedicated to my Going All Out make up look –I definitely don’t do this everyday. I think I use a pretty good combination of high-end to drugstore products, plus I also feel that your make-up collection is something that you can build over time. I want to note that all the pictures below are the exact colors of the products I use, and that my skin color is very pale (think of the lightest foundation color).

Disclaimer: I haven’t found the perfect combination of products and I’m always open to trying new things, so anything can change. And sometimes I do more, sometimes less.

  1. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
  2. CoverBlend Multi-Function Concealer
  3. a. Bare Minerals Foundation or b. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation
  4. Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara
  5. Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes
  6. Elf Liquid Eyeliner
  7. Ardell lashes
  8. NARS Orgasm Blush
  9. NYX Mood Lipgloss
