D&G S/S ’12

The final D&G show before the collapse of the two lines: D&G and Dolce & Gabbana into one. I love this collection, it’s loud, fun and exotic. It reminds me of 70’s California boho-chic. Heavy, heavy on the prints. Bright and bold colours. Flowing and scarf-like pieces.

Check out the rest of the show here.

Jeremy Scott

One of my favourite designers Jeremy Scott held his S/S ’12 fashion show at Milk Studios today (I watched the live stream). I was floored by the string of themes he decided to go with: Western, cowboy, 50s, cow print, cacti, and campy-California. Of course those are my opinions on the thematics of the show. I think Jeremy Scott is an artist (clearly a theme of the designers I admire; see my Rodarte post). I love designers who are artists and Jeremy is the fashion industry’s Andy Warhol. I wish I could plaster his entire show on my blog but that would just be excessive so peep the entire show here.

Rodarte S/S 12

I absolutely love Rodarte’s visible inspiration in art. Their fall collection was beautiful looking like the paintings of Andrew Wyeth or Monet. But the Spring is now something to look forward to with Van Gogh-inspired prints. I actually visited the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam and it was beautiful and so iconic. I love that Rodarte literally merges fashion and art, it’s something to be appreciated.

Favourite T

Everyone has their favourite t-shirt, sweatshirt, pants, etc. A couple of months ago I bought a Neon pink Newport Raglan T-Shirt from TNA (sold at Aritzia). When I bought the shirt, it was back in June, so I couldn’t wear it until now. And only now have I discovered my obsession with it. I bought the most obnoxious barbie/neon/hot pink colour, but I love it. The shirts also come in virtually every other colour, but I’ve found that it’s my go-to shirt after work, or at night. It’s so comfortable; keeps you warm and cool. Whatever you need, it’s there for you. I would wear this shirt to work if the colour wasn’t so bright. Anyways, I recommend it if you too, want a new favourite shirt.

This is the shirt in lavender, as the picture of my hot pink was not available. Buy it here.

Inspiration: Amsterdam

Feeling nostalgic. Something that inspires me and lives in me is Amsterdam. It’s my favourite place in the entire world. I went last summer and fell head over heels. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about being there. Here are some photos I took, maybe it’ll inspire you too.
